1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how AngelGate Solutions ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with the AutoCastNow mobile application, its CarPlay interface, and related services (collectively, the "App"). It applies regardless of how you obtain the App, including through the Apple App Store or TestFlight.
By using the App you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. This policy is incorporated into the AutoCastNow Terms & Conditions. It does not apply to third-party apps, services, or websites the App links to or opens — including streaming services and your own media server software — which have their own privacy practices.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, display name, and authentication identifiers. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication and, if you choose, Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. We never see or store your password in plain text. If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive only the relay address.
Subscription and entitlement data. Your plan tier (free, trial, or premium), subscription product identifier, and expiration timestamps are stored in Firebase so your plan follows your account across devices. Payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; we never receive your payment card details or billing address.
Location and motion data (on-device only). The App uses your device's location (speed) and motion activity (for example, stationary or automotive) for one purpose only: determining whether your vehicle is parked so that video playback can be safely enabled, and locked while driving. This processing happens on your device. We do not transmit, store, or retain your location or location history on our servers, we do not track where you go, and location data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for advertising. You can revoke location or motion permissions at any time in iOS Settings; doing so disables only the features that depend on them.
Media server credentials and library data (on-device only). When you connect a personal media server (such as Jellyfin, Emby, or Plex), the server address, your username, and access tokens are stored locally on your device in the iOS Keychain. They are never transmitted to us. Your media library — titles, artwork, metadata, and watch progress — is exchanged directly between your device and your own server. We do not host, receive, proxy, index, or have any access to your media files, library contents, or viewing history on your servers.
Usage analytics. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate (screens viewed, features used, session length, device model, OS version, app version, country-level region, and similar signals). Analytics data is pseudonymous, associated with app-instance identifiers rather than your name, and is not used to identify you personally.
Crash and diagnostics data. We may collect crash logs and performance diagnostics (for example via Firebase Crashlytics) — such as stack traces, device state at the time of a crash, and app version — to identify and fix defects. Crash data does not include your media, credentials, or location history.
Advertising data (free tier only). The free tier displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the IDFA, subject to your App Tracking Transparency choice), coarse device signals, and ad-interaction events under Google's own policies. See Section 7.
Support communications. If you contact us, we collect the contents of your message, your contact details, and any information you choose to provide, so we can respond.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, access, or store: your media files or what they contain; your viewing history on your own servers; your streaming service credentials (Netflix, Disney+, and similar services are opened as separate apps — we never see those credentials or what you watch there); your contacts, photos, or messages; your precise location or location history; microphone or camera data; or any biometric information. We do not use your data to train advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- create, authenticate, and secure your account;
- sync your subscription tier and entitlements across your devices;
- operate the parked-only safety gate (on-device);
- display ads on the free tier and measure their delivery;
- measure, debug, and improve the App's features, performance, and stability;
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- send service communications (for example, material changes to terms or this policy);
- detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our legal rights.
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these legal bases: performance of a contract (account, entitlement sync, support — Art. 6(1)(b)); legitimate interests (analytics, crash diagnostics, security, fraud prevention — Art. 6(1)(f), balanced against your rights); consent (ad tracking via App Tracking Transparency and any optional permissions such as location and motion — Art. 6(1)(a), withdrawable at any time in iOS Settings); and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) where we must retain or disclose information by law.
7. Advertising & Tracking (Free Tier Only)
The free tier is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. Before any cross-app tracking identifier (IDFA) is accessed, iOS shows you the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, the App remains fully functional and ads are served without cross-app tracking (they may be contextual or less personalized). Trial and premium subscribers do not see ads, and no ad SDK content is shown to them.
Your choices: (a) decline or revoke tracking permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; (b) manage Google's ad personalization at adssettings.google.com; (c) subscribe to Premium for a fully ad-free experience. Ads are never displayed on the vehicle screen while driving.
8. CarPlay
When connected to CarPlay, the App displays your library and playback controls on the vehicle's screen. The CarPlay interface collects no additional personal data — it is a display surface for the App running on your iPhone. Video playback on the car screen is enabled only while the vehicle is parked, enforced by both the operating system and the App. We do not receive telemetry from your vehicle.
9. Data Retention & Deletion
Account and entitlement data is retained while your account is active and for a short period thereafter as needed for backup integrity, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. You may delete your account at any time from the App's Settings, which removes your account record and entitlement data from Firebase. Media server credentials exist only on your device: disconnect the server in the App or delete the App to clear the local Keychain entries. Analytics and crash data is retained per Firebase's standard retention controls (generally 2–14 months depending on data type) and then deleted or aggregated. Support emails are retained as long as needed to handle your request and for our records. Where deletion is impracticable (for example, in encrypted backups), we isolate the data from further processing until deletion completes.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data: server credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain (hardware-backed where available); communication with Firebase uses TLS; access to backend data is restricted and authenticated. Connections to your own media server use the address you configure — we strongly recommend HTTPS or a private network (for example a VPN such as Tailscale) for remote access, since the security of your server and network is under your control, not ours. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you and regulators as required by applicable law.
11. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and the service providers we use (Apple, Google/Firebase) may process data in the United States and other countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required, transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (where the provider is certified) and/or Standard Contractual Clauses implemented by our providers. By using the App you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
12. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The App is not in Apple's Kids category. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at asnchz80@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
13. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your region, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your information; export it in a portable format; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing); opt out of targeted advertising; and complain to a supervisory authority (in the EEA/UK, your local data protection authority; we would appreciate the chance to address your concern first).
To exercise any right, email asnchz80@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We will verify your request using the email associated with your account and respond within the time required by applicable law (generally 30–45 days). You may use an authorized agent where the law allows; we will require proof of authorization. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Many controls are also self-serve: delete your account in Settings, revoke permissions in iOS Settings, and manage tracking under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
14. U.S. State Privacy Disclosures
For residents of California (CCPA/CPRA) and states with similar laws (for example Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Texas):
- Categories collected: identifiers (email, display name, account IDs, device identifiers); commercial information (subscription tier and product ID); internet/electronic activity (app usage analytics, crash data, ad interactions on the free tier). We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by these laws for any purpose requiring a separate right to limit — on-device location processing never reaches us.
- Sources: you, your device, and our service providers (Apple, Google/Firebase).
- Purposes: as described in Section 4.
- Sale / sharing: we do not sell personal information for money. Free-tier ad delivery involving cross-context identifiers (when you allow tracking) may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out by declining or revoking tracking in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Tracking) or by subscribing to Premium. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
- Retention: as described in Section 9.
- Your rights: know/access, correct, delete, portability, opt out of sharing, and non-discrimination — exercised as described in Section 13. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision email; we will respond as required by your state's law.
15. Third-Party Services & Links
The App opens third-party streaming apps and connects to media server software that you control. Those services — and any website links in the App or on this page — are governed by their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. In particular: streaming apps opened via shortcuts handle your accounts and viewing entirely within their own apps; and your media server software (Jellyfin, Emby, Plex) may itself collect data under its own policy, including telemetry to its vendor. Review those policies directly.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves or as legal requirements change. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable advance notice in the App or by email before the changes take effect. Where required by law, we will seek your consent. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of it.
